On The Day Of The Delivery

  • Please note that the carrier does not deliver on weekends.
  • On the morning of the delivery, call the carrier to confirm your shipment is on schedule. Carriers typically deliver between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

When The Truck Arrives:

  • While the unit is still on the truck, confirm that the shipping label indicates your name and address. Please call us immediately if that is not the case.
  • Take pictures of the package as you can see it in the truck.
  • The driver will take your skid to the end of the truck, place it on the liftgate, lower it to the ground and place it next to the truck or on the curbside.

Damages – IMPORTANT

  •  It is your right to take a few minutes to inspect the freight, please inspecting the condition of the unit before signing for the delivery.
  • For any damages, please make the notation ‘damaged’ on the delivery receipt upon signing for the receipt of the goods.

Our freight partners generally describe a serviceable area as anywhere accessible by a large freight truck or where roads are regularly maintained and items can be delivered safely. This broad definition applies to most urban and non-urban places.

Areas not considered serviceable are exceptionally rural areas that are not safely accessible by a large truck. If you have concerns that this may be applicable to you, then you can also have your items shipped to the freight terminal and pick them up yourself.

🏗️ How To Build A Foundation

A solid foundation is the key to a long-lasting shed. At Outdoor Living Today, we want to help you create a sturdy, level base for your shed—without confusion or guesswork. Whether you’re a DIY pro or first-timer, this guide walks you through clear, step-by-step instructions and multiple foundation options.

 Three Recommended Foundation Types:

  • Patio Stones (Fast & Easy)
  • Pressure-Treated 4×4 Beams (Durable & Elevated)
  • Concrete Slab (Permanent & Weather-Resistant)

STEP 1: Clear & Prepare the Site

Before your shed kit arrives:

  • Remove grass, debris, roots, and rocks.
  • Make sure the area is flat and drains well.
  • The ground should slope away from the site (approx. 1/8″ per foot over 10 feet) to prevent water buildup.
  • For best results, excavate 4 inches and fill with gravel or crushed rock.

💡 Pro Tip: Use a landscape fabric under gravel to prevent weed growth and soil shifting over time.

 

STEP 2: Mark Out the Shed Foundation

  • Pick one corner (Point A) and drive a stake into the ground.
  • Use the 3-4-5 triangle method (based on the Pythagorean theorem) to ensure your layout is square—this method works for any shed size:
  • Measure 3 feet (or any multiple) on one side, and 4 feet (or same multiple) on the adjacent side. The diagonal between them should be exactly 5 feet (or the matching multiple).
  • For larger sheds, you can use 6-8-10 or 9-12-15—just maintain the ratio.

Once your corners are square, outline the full perimeter using string and batter boards.

STEP 3: Choose Your Foundation Type

Patio Stone Foundation

  • Best for small to medium sheds on stable ground.
  • Level the soil or gravel, then place stones under key floor joist points (see your floor plan).
  • Adjust using sand or soil for leveling.
  • Space stones evenly to support the shed’s perimeter and any internal floor joists for balanced weight distribution.
  • Use a long 2×4 and a carpenter’s level to ensure all stones sit flat and level across the entire footprint.

✅ Quick to install, affordable, and easy to move or adjust.

 

4×4 Pressure-Treated Beam Foundation

  • Ideal for slightly uneven terrain or areas where airflow is needed beneath the shed.
  • Lay beams perpendicular to joists on a gravel base.
  • Use rebar (½”) driven through pre-drilled holes to secure beams in place.
  • Leave space between beams to promote drainage and prevent moisture buildup under the shed.
  • Ensure all beams are level and aligned before attaching floor joists for a stable, even base.

Concrete Slab Foundation

  • Best for large, heavy-duty sheds or long-term placement.
  • Excavate 6 inches: 4″ of gravel, 4″ of concrete slab.
  • Include a plastic vapor barrier between gravel and slab.
  • Frame your pour with 2x4s, level and finish with a trowel or bull float.

This limited warranty protects against rot and decay only on the Cedar substrate contained in our Shed, Playhouse, Gazebo, and Pergola products. *Raised Garden Beds qualify only if the interior of the beds is fully lined with a waterproof membrane before filling the garden with soil.

CONDITIONS & LIMITATIONS

We require that the following conditions are met to ensure your warranty remains valid...

Your OLT Product Must Be Assembled Within 90 Days Of Delivery. This is to prevent any warping, shrinkage, or damage that may result from materials sitting for too long. To validate your warranty, we ask you to verify that your OLM Product structure is completed within this timeline by providing photo documentation of your finished build. You may submit your photos using the link below

Warranty Verification


Proper Base: Your unit must be placed on a correct and stable base to avoid unnecessary wear and damage. The responsibility for setting up a suitable base lies with the purchaser.

Proper Maintenance: Regular maintenance is essential. This includes re-painting or re-staining and keeping the perimeter and underside of the building free from vegetation and debris. Regular re-attaching of loose hardware, nails that have popped out, and re-tightening screws which have come loose.

No Relocation or Alteration: Moving the building from its original location or significantly altering the structure may void the warranty.

Exclusions: Damage due to acts of nature, including tornadoes, hail storms, fires, and more, are not covered by this warranty.

Original Purchaser: This warranty applies exclusively to the original purchaser of the product.

Timely Reporting: Any failure or defect must be reported to Outdoor Living Today within 7 days after discovery using our easy claims system on our website. https://www.outdoorlivingtoday.com/olt-customer-claims/

No Liability for Personal Property: Outdoor Living Today is not liable for any loss or damage to personal property or contents placed in the building, including damage caused by any defect in the building. Any products installed such as floor coverings or wall and ceiling coverings are not included.

No Indirect or Consequential Damages: We will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, nor for failures caused by events, acts, or omissions beyond our control, such as misuse or improper maintenance.

What Is Your Return Policy?


We try to be as flexible as possible, but due to the extreme costs of return shipping, we generally do not accept returns, instead, we will consider but do not guarantee to work with our customers on a case-by-case basis to find an amicable solution

Refund Policy: In the case where a shopper mistakenly purchases a product or uses the wrong credit card, Outdoor Living Today may consider a full refund of your money. This is up to the discretion of our credit department.

Purchasers who submit Orders through Outdoor Living Today and subsequently cancel their order prior to shipping will be subjected to a $100 USD Charge Back. This is an administrative charge and any outstanding balance will be reimbursed immediately. Order cancellations must be submitted to our Customer Service Department.
